Hey guys, recently I was in the market for a router lift as I wanted to enclose my Kreg router table for dust collection purposes and wanted a way to make bit changes from above the table, after reading a lot of reviews of different brands of lifts I decided to take a look at the Kreg PRS3000 Precision Router Table Lift but I could not find any reviews on this product anywhere but being the owner of many, many Kreg products and knowing of their great quality and customer support I decided to take the chance and order it anyway because I wanted the best router lift I could find for my Kreg router table. If you’re looking for a router lift, especially if you own a Kreg router table, LOOK NO FURTHER, do yourself a favor and JUST BUY IT, by the way, Amazon has the lowest price.

It is solid, strong and simple to operate, not bad looking either, it’s great for above the table bit changes and it’s direct driven (does not use belts like some brands) I even bought a Porter Cable 7518 router just to use with it and if you think that the phenolic plate fits good, wait till you see how this aluminum router lift fits, it also has self leveling inserts, it’s perfect, Kreg really hit this one out of the park.

Friday April 30th Update, After using the router lift a few times and having a lot of fun, I thought it would be a nice feature to add a Wixey WR525 Remote Digital Readout to to the router lift so I bought one, following the instructions supplied, you are supposed to drill a hole in the plate as well as the assembly that holds the motor with the included drill bit so I thought to myself that this may take an hour or more, but when I took the lift out of the router table,to my surprise, it was already pre-drilled for the installation. These people at KREG seem to think of everything, thus saving me a lot of time and possible frustration. The best just keeps getting better, I hope this review helps you guys in some way.

Painful to adjust bit height, March 19, 2011

I installed this lift in my router table which has a Porter Cable 7518 router and an Incra table top. It went in fine and was ok except for the height adjustment. The lift wrench was a pain to use. I found that locating the proper position for the wrench so that I could lift the router awkward and frustrating. To make matters worse, the thumb wheel was quite stiff to operate. It wasn’t too bad for lowering the bit (though slow, gravity is helping), but raising it was pretty hard (gravity is your enemy when raising) and if you have very far to go it was not fun at all. This was aggravated by the fact that I found that the lift wrench was not really very useful for setting the bit height to anything other than all the way up or all the way down, so I wasn’t able to use it effectively to reduce my time at the thumb wheel. Also, I had quite a lot of vertical lash in the thumb wheel adjustment. This may have been adjustable, but I couldn’t find an adjustment for it.

Overall, I found the Kreg lift to be just too much of a pain to use. I have since replaced it with an Incra Mast-R-Lift II (built by Jessem) and find the difference between the two to be remarkable. The crank to raise and lower the router is almost effortless to use; and I find the MagnaLOCK insert rings (an Incra exclusive) a definite improvement over the plastic and phenolic ones I’ve used with other router plates/lifts in the past.

So my advice, skip this one and have a look at the Incra.

Bought this to go on my Kreg router table. Levelers allow you to get the plate dead even with surrounding table surface at the corners. I used it make some raised panels. Worked great. Went back a few days later (maybe a week) and discovered that the corners had dropped. I had to re-adjust the levelers on the corners, but this was easy . This may have just been a slight settlement due to initial use, but as I said with the corner levelers, I re-adjusted and was off and running. IMO, the positive locking to the table with the corner levelers is an advantage over the exposed screw levelers in other tables. Just keep your micro adjustment and other adjustments clean. Will post a review later. Appears to be good product.
